The Nitto NT01 tire is a D.O.T. legal competition road course tire developed and designed to provide awesome levels of performance on dry tracks but works as a rain tire as well. The R-compound tread rubber is well balanced for traction and fast lap times, consistent grip over the life of the tire, as well as good wear. The tire has a radial ply construction, steel-reinforcements in the lower sidewall and a high modulus rayon carcass ply to reduce heat build-up.  When new, the tread pattern is almost slick with only a few wide, full depth (6/32nds) sweeping lateral grooves.  The result is large continuous tread blocks which can be shaved down. At 3/32nds the tread evolves to a pattern very close a slick tire with twin circumferential grooves.
